    • Case synopsis: A young girl reached out to a neighbor's pet and was bitten in the face.  The bite wound required stitches from the top lip to the bottom of the nose, leaving a small, very slight permanent scar.

    • Case synopsis: A golfer knowingly drove a tee-shot when another golfer was standing 75 feet in front of him, just off the fairway.  The golf drive was badly hit, and broke the teeth of another golfer.  Research and investigation located the golfer and a renter's insurance policy that would provide personal liability coverage.
      Outcome:
      $30,000 settlement without litigation.

    • Case synopsis: A tile-setter working on a second story patio fell when boards in the scaffold broke, catching himself by one arm.  The tile-setter tore a labrum in his right shoulder and even after arthroscopic surgery he could not return to work involving overhead labor.  Expert assessment of scaffold construction was key to resolving the case.
      Outcome: $350,000 settlement at pre-trial mediation.
  •  $300,000 for Elderly Woman

    • Case synopsis: A cable company worker opened a trap door in a closet to access the crawl space under an elderly woman's home in the process of installing TV cable.  He left the trap door open without warning the elderly woman who stepped into the closet and fell into the crawl space.  She suffered a fracture of her hip and femur that resulted in two surgeries.
      Outcome:
      Settlement prior to commencing suit, $300,000.
  •  $239,000 settlement for an office worker injured by building door.

    • Case synopsis: A woman leaving a dental office fell through a door that had been damaged by a company while it was removing a vending machine from the building.  The woman injured her hand and lowr back.  The defendants contested liability and claimed that the injured woman’s injuries werepre-existing or should not have kept her from her activities. 
      Outcome:
      The case settled one month before trial for $239,00
  •  $60,000 jury verdict (less comparative fault) for supermarket slip and fall case.
    • Case synopsis: A Boeing employee near retirement slipped on water at a supermarket and dislocated her right knee.  The store denied liability.
      Outcome:
      The case was decided by jury verdict and the woman was awarded 60,000 less comparative fault.

    Motor Vehicle Accidents

  •  $100,000 settlement prior to litigation for passenger in rear end collision

    • Case synopsis: A young woman in a passenger hit from behind by an SUV in the snow had immediate low back pain, but didn’t seek medical treatment initially. During a trip to Southeast Asia, the young woman experienced severe
      lower back pain.  Within 2 months of the injury, she experienced a complete foot drop and cauda equine syndrome.  MRI’s revealed a very large right and central herniated disc at L4-L5 resulting in severe
      lumbar stenosis and causing severely compromised nerve impingement. She had immediate bilateral and decompressive laminectomy for
      microdiskectomy surgery at the L4-L5 level.
      Outcome:
      Settlement prior to litigation $100,000(plus waiver of $20,000 in PIP liens and UIM claim is still
      pending).
  •  $59,791.27 jury verdict for a young woman passenger

    • Case synopsis: A young woman was a passenger in car that was hit from the side by another car and T-boned in an intersection. Injuries included neck and
      back pain and possible Meniere’s Syndrome.  The defense contested the woman’s injuries and medical treatment.
      Outcome: $59,791.27 jury verdict
  •  $125,000 settlement before litigation for a woman hit in a parked car

    • Case synopsis: A woman who was hit in a parked car sustained injuries which led to posterior cervical fusion and additional complications.
      Outcome:
      $125,000(plus claims against an umbrella policy is pending).

  • $94,000 settlement for a woman driver pulling out of driveway

    • Case synopsis: A woman couldn’t stop in time when a vehicle pulled out of a driveway in front of her.  The woman T-boned the turning driver and sustained
      soft tissue injuries to her neck, back, and shoulders.
      Outcome:  $94,000 settlement before trial
  • $74,371.64 arbitration award for a woman exiting the freeway

    • Case synopsis: A woman who was exiting the freeway in Everett was rear ended by another driver during a rain storm.  She suffered soft tissue injuries
      to her neck, back, and shoulders.  The woman chose to take a lessphysically demanding job afterward.  The defendant contested the
      woman’s injuries.
      Outcome:
      $74,371.64 was awarded in arbitration
  • $350,000 for Driver of Minivan

    • Case synopsis: A driver turned from the outside lane across the inside lane to reach a parking a lot entrance and sideswiped the minivan of our client. The collision caused a neck strain which "lit-up" underlying degenerative discs resulting in a C5-6 microdiscectomy and fusion surgery. Defendant argued that the client's neck pain was caused by pre-existing chronic fibromyalgia pain.
      Outcome:
      $350,000 settlement at pre-trial mediation.

  • $110,000 for Teenager in Rollover Accident

    • Case synopsis: A teenage passenger in a single car rollover accident was endangered by the driver's speeding around a corner.The rollover caused loss of consciousness and temporary disruption of normal brain functioning.
      Outcome:
      $110,000 settlement without litigation.
  • $150,000 for Female Driver

    • Case synopsis: A female driver was rear-ended and subsequent medical care was needed because the accident put her pregnancy at risk.
      Outcome:
      $150,000 settlement without litigation.  
  • $117,480 for Delivery Truck Driver

    • Case synopsis:  A driver of a delivery truck with a steel lift gate was rear-ended in stop-and-go traffic on I-405 by an SUV, causing damage that was difficult to see due to the sturdy lift gate. The driver claimed ongoing back pain and wrist pain. The defense argued the speeds were too small to cause more than very minor injury.
      Outcome:
      Verdict for Plaintiff of $117,480.
  • $23,500 for Victim of Drunk Driving Accident
    • Case synopsis: A drunk driver drove a rented truck into our client's minivan causing him whiplash injuries. The insurer for the rental vehicle refused coverage. Thorough investigation revealed evidence of possible negligent over-service at a local tavern. The local tavern was brought into the suit and made to pay for the injuries.
      Outcome:
      Settlement of $23,500.
  •  $48,000 for Woman Driving SUV
    • Case synopsis: A woman driving a large SUV was rear-ended by a semi-truck in slowing traffic on Hwy 167 northbound during the morning commute, but neither the truck nor the SUV showed visible damage. The driver claimed long-term shoulder problems, wrist issues from bracing the wheel, and low-back pain. The defendant claimed the SUV driver could not have been injured at all
      Outcome: Verdict at trial for the plaintiff, $48,000.
  • $1,040,195 for Accident Under Convention Center

    • Case synopsis: A middle-aged man was rear-ended at a high rate of speed under the Washington Convention Center. This resulted in non-surgical disc bulges that had caused permanent damage. The defense contested the nature of the injuries and claimed that an intervening collision one year after the initial collision caused all of the on-going injuries.                 
      Outcome:
      Verdict at trial for the plaintiff, $1,040,195

  • $325,000 for Woman Who was Rear
    • Case synopsis: A  middle-aged woman was rear-ended. She had physical therapy and spinal injection for ongoing pain, and she eventually had a left-sided L4-5 laminectomy, medial facetectomy, and foraminotomy that resulted in complications. She lost significant work
      Outcome:
      Settlement prior to filing suit, $325,000.

  • $178,000 for Pedestrian Struck by Car
    • Case synopsis: An 18 year-old was struck in intersection by driver who failed to stop at a stop sign.  He suffered "soft tissue" injuries that mostly resolved, but he had some ongoing pain and limitations.
      Outcome: Verdict at trial for $178,000.
